NEW RELEASE: A Walk in the Woods

We are delighted to introduce A Walk in the Woods - our latest original production, released on My Life TV today to mark Dementia Action Week (19-25 May 2025.

It was filmed in Epping Forest in collaboration with filmmaker Jamie Yuan, with the voiceover provided by MLF Head of Content Rosie Polya.

A Walk in the Woods was conceived and produced to meet growing demand from care staff in our network - and members of our burgeoning Advisory Panel - for mindful content on the My Life TV channel.

It was inspired by the Japanese concept of Shinrin Yoku or “forest bathing” which involves spending time in nature, slowing down and engaging the senses.

There is strong evidence that forest bathing can reduce stress, improve mood and boost the immune system - see our suggested additional reading below for more details on the benefits of forest bathing.

Our aim with A Walk in the Woods is to bring some of the benefits of forest bathing to our viewers who may not have the opportunity, or the mobility required, to get out and about to enjoy being in nature themselves.

This 15-minute film is full of beautiful scenes of nature, with a gentle guided meditation that engages the viewers’ senses, drawing their attention to the sights, sounds and textures of the forest.

We hope that family members and care home staff will be inspired to build sensory activities around A Walk in the Woods; this could be as simple as bringing in leaves from outside so that viewers get a sense of the feel and scent of the forest in addition to the beautiful and calming colours and sounds.
